Merry Christmas & Happy, Healthy New Year to all members in general and, in particular, those it was my esteemed honour to serve with from 1965 ot 1975 in #16 District, to wit: Thunder Bay, Longlac, Beardmore and Geraldton. After two of my member buddies 'swallowed a 38", I reluctantly resigned to become a police chaplain with a dedication to helping officers suffering PTSD. After completing a master and doctor degree in counselling psychology, it has been my priviledge to counsel not only officers but numerous others as well. It is a joy to continue counselling through our organization (Dr. Fritz & Associates). Warmest regards, (Don) N.A. Fritz.

President Walsh: I commend the association for its stand on this matter where some public persons are complaining about Victim Compensation Awards made to injured peace officers. As a retired member who was once attached to the Penitentiary Squad, I can bear witness to many past cases where Federal Inmates involved in drug trafficking inside the institutions were awarded victim compensations from this board. If a federal inmate deserves money for being beaten inside the prison as a direct result of his involvment in drug trafficking, then who dares complain when an injured police officer who suffers from being hurt in the line of duty is awarded compensation? Perhaps it is time to study and publish all statistics on just who else besides peace officers are being awarded compensation. Once again, this is a case of "if the public only knew." regards Russ Cassidy, retired

I am currently constructing a website dedicated to the OPP and the history of the OPP. The unofficial link is: http://www.castlearchdale.net/ontarioprovincialpolice100yearsandbeyond/index.html the link will be changed when ready to launch the website. I am seeking peoples stories and photos to add to the website, if you are an active or retired officer or family of such, and would like to donate a digital photo or a story, I would happily have that uploaded to the website. Regards!

Hi: I am a Police Sergeant with the LaSalle Police Service here in Ontario. I am putting a display together of some of my older Ontario Provincial Police items. I am looking for some older items which I do not already have for my collection. If any older members have any spare items, I would be very willing to purchase or trade. I am especially looking for an older pie shaped O.P.P. patch with red lettering that may have been used by the academy staff? Thanks for any assistance and I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks much Dave

Hi there, I am looking for any retirees that might be interested in helping out as a volunteer with our Annual Dandelion Festival in Kemptvillle, Ontario, May 30-31, 2009. We require about 60 individuals to help direct traffic to our 20 possible entry points, and I thought what better "expertise" than our RETIRESS! If you or anyone your know would be interested in helping us out with this fun, rural event, please contact me at: 613-258-5907 or at rkelly00@ cogeco.ca thank you, Sandra

My father, Anthony (Tony) Ferrier was an officer with the Halton Regional Police Service (Ontario) during the late 60's and early 70's and then became Justice of the Peace in Walkerton during the 80's. He has just passed away and I was wondering if anyone out there had the opportunity to work with dad? We are having a "celebration service" in April/09 and would like to know if anyone has any stories to share with us?

My grandfather, " Lloyd Alexander Mennie", was an OPP officer in the very early years. Does anyone know where I may search for some history of the OPP that might include his name and service? I have one picture of him aiding in the recovery after the great fire of 1922 in Haileybury and would like to know more about his career.
