I would like to thank all of my former OPP Colleagues for all of their emails, cards, calls and best wishes during my recent serious injury suffered during an NHL Game in Florida on November 23rd. My recovery is going well, and I expect to be back in full action sometime in January 2006. It was really special hearing from so many of you. Thank you. Thank you so much to Scott Wilson of the OPP, I believe Chatham division. He helped this lonely stranded motorist on the 401 earlier tonight. Thanks also to all the officers who take a few minutes out of their day to help all of us, especially those who forget to take the hubcap off the tire before trying to change it! You're the best Officer Wilson!!

I am a police officer in Michigan, in my second career after retiring from the Detroit Police Department. Few Canadian officers are aware that Michigan passed a law, effective July 1, 2003, that specifically exempts Canadian officers from the Michigan law that requires a license to carry a concealed pistol. Michigan Compiled Statutes Annotated (MCLA) 28.432a states: "Persons to whom requirements inapplicable: Sec. 12a: The requirements of this act for obtaining a license to carry a concealed pistol do not apply to any of the following: (i) A peace officer or law enforcement officer from Canada." This exemption in the law for our brothers in Canada, was lobbied for by Michigan officers. Few Canadian officers are aware of it, I have found, so am sending this message. The effect: allows the carrying of a concealed pistol here in Michigan the same as if you were a Michigan officer, either on or off duty. It would be great if this information could be widely published. Stay safe. David A. Womack cuffem@gmail.com

Hello to all of my Provincial Colleagues. I wanted to invite you out to FiteNite again. FiteNite is widely anticipated annual event created by Police, which caters to 911 employees and their friends. FITENITE combines humour and camaraderie with sub-amateur boxing that has a "professional wrestling" flavour. We love having O.DOTS out, and the ones that have fought have represented very well. The event has also been sponsored by the OPPA before, directors of your Association of fought, and one of the best matches ever included an O.P.P. officer. I understand that our very own nominee for Police Officer of the Year was robbed of that award by Cam Woolley this year, so there may be a challenge in the works. Those who have come will come again. Those who have never been will only realize afterwards what they have already missed. www.fitenite.org Take care and play safe. Jack

Hello, My name is Louise. I was travelling Highway 69 north on September 26th 2005, on my way home from London ON when near Estaire I ran over something on the road and suffered a blow out of my front right tire. ( I drive a black passat) A Guardian angel stopped to help me. He changed my tire and followed me into Sudbury to make sure I got there safely. I did not get this fellows name however he told he was an OPP and lived in Guelph. He was on his to Sudbury for a meeting. To anyone from the force reading this e-mail if you may find out whom this person was please make sure he knows how gratefull I was for his help. Thank You for making me feel safe on Ontario roads. I just returned from the annual Americas 9/11 Ride and I wanted to say thanks to all the members of the OPP who rode to the crash sites with us. The demonstration of the precision drill team was the highlight of the ride. I was able to make the personal acquaintance of Officer P. Keller and I shared my experience of being in WTC2 when it was struck. My thanks go out to all of your uniform personnel for their continued support in the war against terrorism. Sincerely, Richard Pinnavaia

Hi, my name is Jasbir Budwal. I used to live in Vancouver before moving to Toronto. I am curious to know why does this province need their own Provincial Police Force? Every other provinces except Ontario and Quebec do not use the RCMP as their Provincial Police? I think the RCMP is the best Police Force in Canadian history and I think every province should use the RCMP as their Provincial Police. Why is Ontario the only province that uses red and white lights for their emergency vehicles when rest of the other provinces use red and blue? Geez this province is becoming just like Quebec that needs to be so different. What a strange province?

First time to the new site and wanted to say I'm impressed. I've just registered for the Members Only area so have not seen it yet. If it is as colourful and interesting as the Public side I'd say the OPPA has a winning web site. Congratulations!!! P.S. The links are great.

In another couple of weeks, my long cherishedDream of working with the law-enforcement people would get a step closer when I will finish my course in the "Police Sciences". I have started to explore memberships and employment opportunites, so any help in this regard to enlighten me is highly appreciative. With very high regards for those who put their lives at harm's way to keep our societies safe. Nick

Just a note to say hello to previous friends and co-workers. 11+ years of retirement have gone by very quickly. I guess that comes from keeping busy and enjoying everyDay to its fullest. I have been looking over comments from past years and still see a lot of familiar names coming up. All the best to each of you in this New Year.
