Thank you for posting the notice of my father, (retired) Staff Sergeant Harold Melton's passing so promptly. I just wanted to note that heDied after a quick and brutal battle with pancreatic cancer on Sunday,December 14, rather than on the 13th as posted. Thank you to all the former colleagues who attended the service.

I just received an email from myDaughter who lives in N.S. There is an email circulating from someone who says he is Captain Abraham Sands of the Ontario Provincial Police. The email has toDo with a person or persons who are putting Hypodermic needles to the underside of gas pump handles. The email continues to say that these needles are infected with HIV positive blood. It continues to say that in the Simcoe area alone there have been 17 cases of people being stuck by these needles over the past five months. MyDaughter says that this email was passed on by local and outside RCMP Membership. She is not sure if this is ligit or not. Can you please let me know. Many thanks Bonnie Teet

Hello to all of my provincial colleagues. On the lighter side, I wanted to tell you about a boxing competition that my partner and I have each year. It is held by police officers for police officers. One of your own, Knock-Out Nikki took part last year, and brought great honour to your association and membership. The event was sponsored by the OPPA last year, and will be once again. The revenues go towards providing scholarships to underprivileged youth in downtown Toronto. FITENITE 2004 is a widely anticipated annual event that caters to 911 employees and their friends. FITENITE 2004 combines humour and camaraderie with sub-amateur boxing that has a “professional wrestling” flavour. A portion of the proceeds are to be donated to THE PEACE FUND, a bursary fund supervised by Dixon Hall. This fund is was created to provide scholarships to underprivileged students. Numerous OPP officers attended last year. The first ever, FITENITE 2002, took place on January 17th, 2002. It was motivated by 911. We had to do something for the families of the officers that died that day. When the FITENITE website was discovered by the TORONTO SUN, FITENITE made front page. Articles appeared for several days after this initiation. FITENITE became the talk of the town. The POLICEMAN’S BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION (of New York City) consequently received a $5,100.00 donation for the express purpose of assisting the Widows and Children of Police Officers who died on 9-11. At FITENITE 2003, we raised $15,900.00 for THE PEACE FUND, a bursary fund maintained by the Dixon Hall, which provides scholarships to underprivileged students in Toronto. Please check it out at http://members.rogers.com/fitenite/ It is a really good time out. All officers and their friends are invited to attend or participate. We look forward to having you out. Jack

I recently attended the funeral of John Flagg. Since I had made his acquaintance several years ago, John touched my personal and professional life in many ways. Maybe it's just me, but, I found the attendance of the three party leaders one week before the election particularly offensive. I find it very hard to believe that their attendance was not a Photo opportunity at the expense of the family and friends. Could they have resorted to any lower form of campaigning.

Could someone please verify if the emails I have been getting in regards to hypodermic needles left in gas pump handles (infected with HIV) is a true email. I have heard nothing about in on the news but have received a couple messages about it. Thank you, Lisa If you are interested in the message I can forward it to you

On behalf of all members of the Brockville Police Service, our sincere condolences to the family, loved ones and our OPP colleagues on the tragic loss of Senior Provincial Constable John Flagg. Every line of duty death reminds us of the risk each officer faces every day; to lose two members within four months is unspeakable. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Great to have a place to leave a msg. I retired in 95 and moved to PEI with the family. We are loving it. Anyone who is apprehensive about retiring shouldn't be. I was 48 when I left and its been great. Now I wonder when I ever had time to go to work. If you are planning a vacation to PEI look us up or if you need some information regarding the maritimes don't hesitate to drop me a line. Be safe...nothing is more important than you and your family....Tom Albrecht

I would like to Thank everyone who was able to attend Phil's funeral on May 27,2003. I was unable to get around to speak with Phil's friends and co-workers that I recognized from the past, due to the large amount of people at the hall. I wish you all a safe journey in this very unpredictable world we live in, and hope that Phil will be remembered in the hearts of his friends.

I am looking for a friend of mine that works for a police department in your area. Wich one, I'm not sure. I have checked with several and have had no luck finding him. I last heard from him several weeks ago. Being a police officer, I worry about his well being, and would just like to know if he is ok. His name is Dave Hill, some call him Lance. I don't know if you disclose such information such as this, but if you do, I would truly appreciate a word from you. Thank you ever so much. Nice website, by the way!
