Former #2867 , now a member of the OPP vets and on contract with Brockville PS. Due to all of the unfortunate situations which occurred and have caused negative relationships between OPP and some Municipal Police Services I want to pass on Festive Season greetings to all OPP members from myself personally and members of the Brockville Police Service. Although we are also in "costing" processes in Leeds and Grenville, everyone has worked hard and focused on responding to costing queries without "editorializing" or using negative comparisons about each other. I thank Supt Carson Fougere, Ssgt Jeroen Meinen of LEEDS OPP and Ssgt Brent Hill of GRENVILLE OPP and well as both OPP and Municipal ASSOC reps and all members of the local OPP and the Gananoque, Prescott and Brockville Police Services. Our daily operational requirements and much needed daily support to one another is vital, as is the perceptionf the public has via news media reports. I trust 1999 will allow us to continue our journeyt through the "costings minefield". To many friends, all of our colleagues and their families, have a SAFE, HEALTHY and PROSPEROUS New Year.

Stumbled across your site while reviewing current Canadian News. Originaly from Brockville ON. Graduated from South Grenville DHS in Prescott, a long time ago. Had to come south to find a position in the Air Force. I retired after 22yrs service. I am currently a Sgt. with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office in Phoenix AZ, and supervise a shift in one of Sheriff Joe's no frills Jail. I have a brother with the OPP Kingston Det. and a sister-in-law with the Brockville City Force. Additionally one of my sisters is currently with Corrections Canada in Victoria Area. I would just like to say, that the OPP detatchments are doing a great job!! I have been considering to be a proud police officer, but come upon a stumble. I have one child and I don't have the heart to leave him behind. And i am looking for some insight, if there is anyone that would kindly give me some info. I would greatly appreciate it. I love the Web site. I was interested in the letters you have received from all over from different police officers, one thing i have noticed is that you all love each other as family, and that is great to see! Well the best of luck and may god be with you!

I am a very proud "married member" of the OPP. My husband has been on the force for 8 years. I resently attended a retirement supper for 4 members of the Ontario Provincial Police. At this dinner retired constable Norm Gibbs, congratulated his wife and family for "putting up with being married to a constable". I cried. I am very proud of my husband Cst. Chris Bannon. I am proud of the fact he blongs to an organization which not only cares about his health (new hats to protect his balding head from the sun), but who cares about my husband all round well being. I like the fact he considers members of the OPP family. I like the fact that when he does not come home after work, I need not worry, because the girls in the Comm Centre do that for me. I just like the OPP. Recently my husband tried a different force for a while. They did not have the moral, or the pride my husband had with the OPP. He returned within 6 months. Thank you OPP for giving my husband the excellent training to keep my childrens daddy safe!!

It's been three weeks since my father (Sulo Hautanen) passed away. A short note to all of you. As many of you know, I have spent part of my younger years growing up in OPP detachments (Thunder Bay District). These memories were very special to me and I would like to express my appreciation to many of you who had attended my father's funeral. Special thanks to Kanata Detachment who had arranged the motorcycle escorts from the service to the burial. My family and friends were very touched and that day will always be remembered. We shall meet again and take care. Sonia Hautanen

Today, we brought flowers to lay at the base of the large stone cairn, erected by members of the Madoc Detachment and the Community, to honour our son, Provincial Constable Andrew Bruce Gordon, #7042, killed, on duty, May 3rd, 1992. These flowers lay beside those placed by Quinte/Madoc members in his memory. As I stood on the walkway, created to bring all visitors to the detachment, past the large cairn, illuminated in darkness, near a flowering crab tree, and under the flags of our province and country, his death seems like yesterday. How can six years have past so quickly. Each day brings memories of his violent passing, but also memories of our pride in him and joyful memories together. We are proud to be part of the OPP family, who remember.

I recently became a member of the OPP after serving 8 years with the Waterloo Regional Police Service in Kitchener/Cambridge. I was hired in April of 1990 and have many friends in the OPP that I have not heard from for a while. I'd just like to say "hi" to the guys and let you know that I will be serving at the St. Thomas detachment in Western Region. Give me a shout and I will certainly get back to you!!!

I just wanted to say that I also want to become a Police Officer. It has been my dream for a long time. I am going to College next year, for the law enforcement Police education courses. I have been in the London Municipal Police head quarters and it really surprised me. I was expecting a smaller place. I have never been in an OPP station. I plan on touring the Aylmer Police College soon, with one of the police officers from the London Municipal Police. He is the one who offered to take me on the tour of the London Headquarters. Well, I just wrote to say keep up the good work and hopefully I'll be joining the force in a few years. Pam MacDonald

Hi there! I worked for the Association for approx. 7 years...I don't know if anyone remembers me or not but I want to say the Association has a lot of really good memories for me...I still feel like I'm a part of it even though I've been away for over 2 years now. I know (first hand) that the Association works very hard individually and as a team to assist and develop members interests and do an excellent job doing it!!! I miss everyone there and also all the members I do know personally...it was an excellent experience!!! Thank you everyone! P.S. Please e-mail me anytime...I'd love to keep in touch!!

Originally from the Lake Helen Reserve, in Nipigon and have friends from the Nipigon Det. I have been in the RCMP for 17 years now and grew up with Sgt. W. Dennis JOHN of Thunder Bay Det. I am in the process of suggesting a "Homecoming for Nipigon" in the upcoming year or 1999 or 2000. It would be a ideal time for former Nipigon O.P.P. Detachment Members to get together as well. What do you think? Anyone want to help??

I stumbled on your sight earlier today looking for information on my family, and I was proud to see and tasteful Honour Roll that truly honours those like my father (Samuel E. Ankenmann PC #3000) who lost their lives serving on the OPP. This is my first round of visiting, but will not be my last. Keep up the Good work, both on the WEB and on the highways and by-ways of Ontario. I'm proud that my father wore the uniform. And may God's Blessings be with all the men and women who wear it throughout 1998.

This is the third time I have visitedyour site. Your Organization should be proud of the very professional manner in which it not only portrays the OPPA, but also the Force and the Province itself. I retired in l993 as an Inspector with the Niagara Regional Police Force after 36 yr of continuous service with both the OPP and NRPF. I served six years with the OPP at #1DHQ Chatham from l956 to 1963. My badge #3089 (original numbering). I have very fond memories of the members I was associated with over those years, Cpl. Archie Shields, Prov.Const. Bill Evans,Bob Presant, Jim Szarka Bud Tarras as well as others. I still have copies of my weekly reports (would you believe). Keep up the good work. Clive Jones
