What a great web site, my compliments to the webmaster's. I am an ex member having served in Dryden and Red Lake during the early "70's. Graduate from Sherbourne St. January 1970. Would like to hear from old friends and fellow associates. Enjoyed going through guest log and seeing a few familiar names. I am a retiree, former Badge #2062 under the old numbering system, I attended the old college on Sherbourne Street in Toronto in 1951, served mt first year at GHQ when it was at 13 Queen's Park Crescent, transferred to Peterborough. then #8 District Headquarters under Dist Insp. J.A. Stringer, transferred to Cobourg as part of the Identification Branch, then to Haliburton as Detch. Comdr.then back to Petewrborough where I finally left the Force when paperwork time exceeded police work time. To those who were involved with the creation and support of this web site, I would like to offer my congratulations for a fine job. I retired from the O.P.P. February 29th., 1996 and this provides me with a great tool to keep in touch with force activities, individual members, retired members, and so many other pertinent things. As a retired member, you don't always get advised of as many events as you did while working and I find this site a great link to what is happening. GREAT JOB, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!! I was a proud member of the O.P.P. for 29 years and had the opportunity to work with many talented and dedicated members of what I believed to be one of the best police organizations in the world. I think You guys have done a great job on this website. I have always admired and respected Police officers and the work they do to protect us. I'm 16 going on 17 in January I'm in grade 11. After I graduate high school in 1999 I hope to go to college and study law enforcement and then my hope is to go to the Police Acedemy. I have some fond memories of my years on the force in the 1950's. The O.P.P continue to be reconized as one of the best in Canada. However, I am disappointed in the attitude and the appearance of the Officers now compared to the earlier years. We were a proud group in those days when the dress code was important to the individuals and the force it's self. We wore hats at all times, (even in the car), polished brass buttons, shoes, sam brown belts, and no smoking in uniform in view of the public. Officers today do not generate the respect they deserve, mainly because of their apearance. A well dressed officer is generally more compentent and creates a lasting impression with the public as an officer who knows and enjoys his profession. It would be such a credit to all of you if got back to the good old days.

Thought your honour roll presentation was very well done. I am original from London, Ontario but I now live in West Palm Beach and I am an Office Assistant to a Captain for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. We erected a monument at our headquarters in 1994. I worked with the Captain and a committee to raise money to build it. We worked about a year to raise the money. We are sorry to say that we have 9 names on it for Palm Beach County only. During reasearch on preparing the monument we came across 2 deputies that we didn't know about from back in the 1920's. I found it a bitter sweet project...

We are glad to hear of the conviction of the officer who killed Dudley George. We are not surprised that you stand behing him %100. Although we know he will not get a heavy sentence, we hope it will be a very long one anyhow. It's sad to see police officers who think they can kill Native people and not suffer any consequences. We think the judge was right on the money when he said that the police fabricated their stories. This seems to be common practice amongst police officers. We bet that he is not going to be liked to well by the prisoners in Kingston or where he ends up. Probably have a hard time making friends with all the other convicts. Oh wellsure he'll keep himself occupied with some labouring duties, or crossword puzzles perhaps. Be sure to send us his address and cell #when he hits the pen. We'll post it so he can get letters from women, it's weird how some women dig killers. That crazyBernardo guy probably gets lots of letters from all kinds of freaks. Maybe he and Bernardo will be cell neighbors?Anyhow thanks for the opportunity to comment. Dudley George remembered.

My second visit to the site since Feb. I recognize a lot of names, especially from the retired members. It is a great way of keeping in touch with everyone. All of we retired people should remember one thing since our salaries dropped to the retired level: Money does not buy happiness, a person with ten million dollars is not any happier than a person with nine million dollars.

Great site!! I am interested in any member (active or retired) who contacted Diabetes while on the job or shortly after retirement. I am doing a survey to ascertain if there is a definite connection between the "life style" of coppers and the increasing onslaught of Diabetes. Interested in both type 1 and type 2. I am trying to locate Ken Hay. He and I were in the Air Force in the Mid '60s, until he saw the light. I last saw Ken when he was on course in Ottawa in 1984. Just surfing the net when I found your excellent homepage. Helping brother and sister officers keep in touch is an important thing. I was a police officer in Niagara Falls (NY) for 11 years and recently retired from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services where I was a police trainer and consultant. I am also a graduate of the FBI National Academy and Past President of the New York & Eastern Canada Chapter of the FBINAA. I have many fond memories of law enforcement friends in Canada that I met over the years. Good luck to all and keep up the good work.
